"People in Need"

or "Volk in Nood" in Dutch is a humanitarian organisation. We act against poverty, underdevelopment and human suffering. We do not ask any salary or remuneration. We are volunteers.

We are also 'people's nationalists'. We believe all peoples have the right to self-determination, to govern themselves, free and without domination. We also respect each human being in his identity that makes him belong to a people. Thus we help those who are persecuted because of their belonging to a population group or ethnicity. That is why People in Need started work in Croatia. The Croats had decided democratically to form an own state and for that became victim of ethnic cleansing. For the same reasons People in Need delivered food to Bosnian Muslim refugees refugees and it helped Serbian aged people who were left behind by their fleeing families during the Croatian recovery of the Krajina.

In Croatia, Bosnia, Kosova and Albania we stress the Flemish origin of our operational means. Thus People in Need is trying to build solidarity among peoples. We consider help to oppressed peoples as a logical continuation of the Flemish emancipation struggle.

People in Need has no party-political ties. For us helping the needy and the right of self-determination of people are a priority. This has nothing to do with party political left or right, party political conservative or liberal.
